DataPro Group to become VoxTelecom

14 June 2007

Alt-X listed DataPro Group today announced its intention to change its name to VoxTelecom, reflecting the group’s new positioning as a full-service alternative telecommunications provider.
“The original DataPro Group was very much a traditional ISP or data business,” says executive chairman Tony van Marken. “When we listed the business in 2004 it just seemed logical to use the name of our corporate ISP business, namely DataPro, as the name of the listed entity.”
“However, over the past year or so, through a combination of organic growth, the creation of new start up voice businesses within the Group and the acquisitions of @lantic Internet, Definity Telecom and Orion Telecom, we have transformed ourselves into a telecommunications service provider offering the full range of voice and data services to both consumers and businesses. Although the DataPro name is well known in the investment community and with our customers we felt that VoxTelecom was a stronger brand that would re-enforce our positioning as an alternative telecom operator.”
The existing DataPro subsidiary, an ISP focused on the corporate market, will continue to trade under its original name. So will consumer ISP @lantic Internet and corporate voice services provider Orion Telecom.
“Converged voice and data services are definitely the way things are going around the world,” says van Marken. “As a group our technology platform now enables us to provide a comprehensive, converged bundle of voice and data services to the consumer and corporate markets.”
The name change has still to be approved by the company’s shareholders at a special general meeting on 28 June, 2007 following which the new brand will be officially launched.
