Storm appoints new CEO

14 June 2007

Storm Telecom has appointed a new CEO. Storm will move forward under the leadership of Willem van Rensburg, previously head of strategy and telecommunications at BCX. The two founding shareholders, Tim Parsonson and Tim Wyatt-Gunning, hand over the reins in June, 2007.
“Storm has an aggressive growth plan for the next five years. We need to capitalise on our position as an innovative telecommunications supplier that provides a real alternative to Telkom and the other established players.
Describing why he took the position with Storm, van Rensburg says, “I firmly believe that Storm is uniquely positioned to take advantage of deregulation, especially local loop unbundling and access to more wholesale providers. It will take a lot more skill to design the best solution for business, rather than simply ordering up a Diginet line. Storm is the leader in Voice over IP (VoIP) solutions today, and it is a constant innovator. The growth potential is enormous and I know that the team and I will be able to produce the required results. It is an honour to head up Storm – the other shareholders and directors are very supportive, highly competent and totally committed. This, combined with a strong client base, excellent infrastructure and good people will be a winning recipe.”
